BMJ Case Rep Published online: [please include Day Month Year] doi:10.1136/bcr-2014208869 DESCRIPTION A 76-year-old woman on warfarin for atrial fibrillation presented for routine pacing check 6 weeks after implantation of a dual-chamber device. She felt weak and generally unwell. The atrial lead was not sensing or pacing at high outputs. A chest X-ray showed...
متن کامل“complex Global Problems, Simple Lifelong Learning Solutions.” Discuss
In their introduction to this symposium, Biesta and Osberg argue that complexity theory has pointed to the fundamental unpredictability of the real, and to the ways in which educational practices cannot be controlled. This is in line with Freud’s comment that education is an impossible profession because it cannot mandate or master the future. It also echoes Derrida on undecidability and respon...
متن کاملACLP: Flexible Solutions to Complex Problems
In this paper we present a new system for non-monotonic reasoning performed using abduction. The system, called ACLP, is a programming language based on the framework of Abductive and Constraint Logic Programming (ACLP) which integrates abduction and constraint solving in Logic Programming. It is build on top of the ECLiPSe language for Constraint Logic Programming (CLP) interfacing (and exploi...
متن کاملCommon solutions to pseudomonotone equilibrium problems
In this paper, we propose two iterative methods for finding a common solution of a finite family of equilibrium problems for pseudomonotone bifunctions. The first is a parallel hybrid extragradient-cutting algorithm which is extended from the previously known one for variational inequalities to equilibrium problems. The second is a new cyclic hybrid extragradient-cutting algorithm....
متن کاملAsymptotic Shape of Solutions to the Perturbed Simple Pendulum Problems
We consider the positive solution of the perturbed simple pendulum problem u′′(r) + N − 1 r u′(r)− g(u(t)) + λ sinu(r) = 0, with 0 < r < R, u′(0) = u(R) = 0. To understand well the shape of the solution uλ when λ 1, we establish the leading and second terms of ‖uλ‖q (1 ≤ q < ∞) with the estimate of third term as λ → ∞. We also obtain the asymptotic formula for uλ(R) as λ→∞.
